Trip up to Tillamont

Wayne says the sea lion in my last blog was probably a seal.

We didn't do much on the last two days. We took a down day one day and it rained on the other.
I did however stick my head out long enough to take this picture. I think it is a picture of the eagle being chased by another bird. We have seen this frequently in the past week but getting a picture is difficult.

Today as we went to into town over the bridge and I took a picture of the RV park. The marina is in front and the RV park is right behind it. You can't see our coach as it is hidden by a fifth-wheel.
Then we drove up to the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. I took this picture of the inlet to the harbor with it's long jetties.

This is the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. Newport is one of the only cities to have two lighthouses.

We drove on down to Historic Nye Beach. There was not a lot to see except this interesting bicycle sculpture. We did go to a very interesting gallery as well.
From there we continued down Historic US HWY 101 towards Tillamook.

When we got to Lincoln City we wandered out on the beach. We spotted two men fishing and went over to see how they were doing.

It turned out that they were crabbing with a neat crabbing net and we bought one for future use. I also picked up some pretty stones. As you can see this area is littered with drift wood.

Since it was almost noon we decided to eat at Mo's. This is the same restaurant that we ate at the other day in Newport. That one was a hole in the wall but the original. This one was large and had a great view of the bay.

I had the crab stuffed avocado that was so large I could barely finish it. It was wonderful.

The roads along the coastline are full of these yellow bushes and pink rhododendrons.

Right before we got to Tillamook we caught sight of this herd of elk. On the trip back they were even closer to the road.

While in Tillamook we toured the Tillamook Cheese Factory. These people are putting the large blocks of cheese into a machine that makes it square and then cuts it into bricks. They then separate the bricks and send them down the line to packaging.

On the way home I took a picture of these rocks in the water. I guess it is so different from the water on Texas coast.

The tide was very low making this island even larger.

We will probably head back to the Lincoln City area after we visit Wayne's family in Echo. We leave tomorrow so be looking for family pictures for a while. If you want to see more pictures from today, check them out at: http://picasaweb.google.com/marynelle/52009TripUpToTillamoot?authkey=Gv1sRgCM-Bm-HJ-aLpOA&feat=directlink

Take care for now.
