Newport Marina and north to Depoe Bay

We arrived at the Port of Newport Marina and RV Park on Thursday afternoon. The park is not fancy but it is very convenient. There is a nice view of the bridge.

We walked out on the pier and watched people crabbing. We talked to one couple who had caught several Red Rock crab and one Dungeness. We went into town and ate dinner at a really nice restaurant. This morning we got up and drove up to Depoe Bay. On the way up we stopped at Yaquina Lighthouse.
These are the tidal pools below the lighthouse. I had forgotten how far down they were so we didn't walk down to them.

There was a big rock out in the water that was covered with birds.

The view back towards Newport is very nice from this vantage point.

We went in several shops in Depoe and Wayne bought some Carmel Corn with peanuts and I bought some chocolate covered espresso beans. There was salt water taffy everywhere. On the way back we stopped at the Devil's Punchbowl.

Then we went down to the historic bay front in Newport and ate lunch and looked in some of the shops. There was one shop/gallery that was absolutely beautiful. All of the jewelry and glass pieces were displayed in glass boxes with shells and by color on tables that sat on glass boxes that had large shells and ceramic fish. If we go back down there I will take my camera and get some pictures.
This afternoon Wayne walked over to the dock to watch the people who had been out fishing clean their halibut. Yesterday was the first day of halibut season.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.
