April’s Happy Hour Out at the Westin

Thursday evening was Happy Hour Out at the Westin Hotel.  We all loaded on the bus.  With his new wide angle lens, Wayne was able to get a picture of everyone on the bus at one time.  The people front to back and left to right are Peggy, Peggy,  Joyce, Maggie, Gert, Lyn, Bobbie, Marynelle, Jane, Sterling, Betsey, Kay, Phyllis, Bill, Frank, Betsy, Annabelle, and Lindley.   Ed and Wayne weren’t in their seats yet.

The Westin has a large seating area off the lobby by the bar that was able to accommodate us all.

Even our new GM showed up.  Here he is talking to me.

Keith went around and visited with everyone.

Finally it was time for the appetizers.  There were two kinds of pizza, calamari, and some sort of dip with chips.  The food was replenished by the marketing team whenever we ran out.

Jane was one of the first in line.

She was quickly followed by everyone else.

Jewelry Class – Watch bands

Before class on Wednesday I laid out some of the beads that I had on the table in our apartment for the ladies to choose from.

DSC_0010

Joyce, Annabelle, and Jeanne, came early and started picking out beads.  Trouble didn’t like it that they weren’t paying attention to him.

DSC_0004

They got started out in the hallway and Bobbie joined us.

DSC_0007

I had about a dozen watch faces for them to pick from.

DSC_0008

Jeanne and Joyce got right to work.

DSC_0009

Mary Alice joined the large table while Nancy and Linda joined Bobbie at the small table.

DSC_0012

Jeanne, Joyce and Bobbie finished their watch bands early.  Here they are.  We were waiting for the glue to dry on the knots before we cut off the extra stretchy cord.  Nancy finished hers as well while Annabelle and Mary Alice will finish theirs later.  More pictures to follow.

Everyone said they had fun.  Next time we will learn to do free form wire wrapping.

Ladies Poker

Wayne got a new wide angle lens for his camera and came up to take pictures while the ladies were playing poker.  On my left are Velma, Elizabeth, and Abby.  On my right is Delores.

DSC_0004

In this picture you get the back of Delores’s head and to her right is Loretta.

DSC_0003

Bobbie usually deals but she was off property today so I dealt.  We play every Monday afternoon and it is a crazy game but we only bet pennies so no one goes too far in debt.

2013 MS 150 Bike Ride

My brother, Murray, his wife Sandy, their daughter, Tracy, and their granddaughter, Grace all came into Austin on Saturday.  They had dinner with us at The Conservatory.
Sunday morning we met them at the Bullock Texas State History Museum for the finish of the MS 150 Bike Ride from Houston.  Tracy’s husband, Chris, and their sun, Jacob, were both riding in the race along with one of Chris’s sisters and her daughter.
We got there at 11:30am and there were quite a few spectators there already.

Since our riders were quite a ways out we went into the museum up to the VIP section to have some lunch.  This is the mosaic that is in the floor of the entrance to the museum.
DSC01416
The VIP area was set up in the cafe and was being catered by a group out of San Antonio.  There were three different kinds of quesadillas with all the trimmings, several pasta salads, dips, etc. and ice cream and gelato.  There was also a bar set up but it was way too early for that.  The food was wonderful.

Lastly here are Murray, Sandy, me and Wayne.  We haven’t had a picture together in a long time.

It was a fun but long day.
