California to Oregon

We left Seal Beach Saturday morning and drove up Hwy. 5 to right before Corning, CA. The drive was pretty devoid of beautiful scenery so I didn't take any pictures. We spent the night in the Rolling Hills Casino parking lot and had their buffet for dinner. Afterwards we played blackjack for a little while. I won and Wayne lost and together we just about broke even. The drive from Corning to Grants Pass was another story entirely. Wonderful hills and lakes. We spotted this snow-capped mountain in the distance shortly after we started our trip. We speculated as to what it might be.

We crossed over Shasta Lake just north of Redding, CA.

We stopped for lunch at a rest stop on the Klamath River. After lunch we walked down to see the river that was running swiftly.

We crossed over more of Shasta Lake after lunch.

I got a picture of the Klamath River and you can see how swift it is.

We started to get nearer the snow-capped mountain that by now we had identified as Mt. Shasta.

On the other side of the highway was this amazing rock formation. I think it is called Castle Crags.

There is still a lot of snow on several of the other mountains as well.

As we were driving several old restored cars went past us. The picture is a little fuzzy but I wanted to include it anyway.

Here are some more snow-capped mountains.

With Mt. Shasta on our right this mountain was directly in front of us.
If you look closely you can see the ski runs on Mt. Shasta.

I got my Oregon pictures out of order so I will do them in another blog.
