Meteor Crater

Tiffin Service people called this morning and gave us instructions as to what to do so we could drive the coach.  They also gave us the name of a repair facility in Las Vegas and we have an appointment on Wednesday morning.  Since it is out on Boulder Highway, we decided to stay at Sam’s Town RV Park rather than Circus Circus.

We drove out to Meteor Crater.  I had read all the brochures so I had an idea of what to expect.   This crater is so big that you could have ten football games going on on the ground while two million people sat around the edge and watched.  They have a very interesting video and museum.    The astronauts trained here for the trip to the moon.

This is the largest piece of the meteor that they recovered.  They think that most of it was thrown out as tiny pieces over a several mile radius or melted.

Here I am standing on the crater floor—NOT.  It is just a picture to make people think you are standing there.

As we neared the RV park we saw this lone antelope standing about a 100 feet from the road. It  just stood there and let us take it’s picture.

Wayne also took a picture of one of the San Francisco Peaks that still has snow on it.

Tomorrow we leave for Las Vegas.
