Azalea Festival Parade

Saturday morning was the Azalea Festival Parade.  It was opened by a helicopter fly over.

There were quite a few people gathered for the parade.

The city and county law enforcement started and ended the parade.

Then came the colors.

Then came all the fire engines, ambulances, etc. from the city, county, port, and surrounding areas.

Next were the dignitaries.

A girls dance and acrobatic group performed for us next.

There were various groups including the roller blade team next.

As always the Shriners showed up with their little cars.

This nice young man later gave up his chair for me and another person in his group give up one for Wayne.

A group had built a pirate ship float and everyone was dressed up in pirate costumes—even the baby.

No parade is complete without a few horses.

And there are always some things especially for the kids.  Everyone was throwing candy.

Last but not least were the antique cars.

After the parade we went down to the port area and ate lunch.  Then we walked along the boardwalk and looked at all the vendors.

They even had a bandstand with music.

Wayne ate his first barbequed oysters.  He says he prefers them fried.  I guess we were tired because we both fell asleep when we got home.

Putting in the picture albums is new for me so let me know if you can open them.
