Folsom, CA

Tuesday afternoon we drove out to a Farmer’s Market that Mike knew about and bought cherries and asparagus.  Then we drove to Historic Folsom

Folsom was a big gold mining town back in the day and they used the same kind of dredges that they used in Dawson City, Alaska so there were tailings everywhere.  Some of the tailings have been smoothed down to make way for more modern buildings and homes.  There are still lots of old buildings to look at.

This is the dam that created Folsom Lake.  Mike and Patty bring their boat here sometimes.

It’s a nice size lake.

Of course we had to drive by Folsom State Prison which was made famous by Johnny Cash.

Mike drove down the prison road to the visitor’s parking lot so that we could see the actual old prison which is still in use.
