Cheboygan and downtown Mackinaw City

We drove over to Cheboygan this morning to take Trouble to the vet and to have two new tires put on the Jeep.  As you can see if you look really closely the trees are beginning to change colors a little.

Trouble was fine.  His lungs were fine but he got a shot in case he might have had a little infection.  The Jeep runs much better now.  After lunch we went downtown and walked up and down the main street.  There are a few restaurants and T-shirt shops and in between each shop there is a fudge shop.  The entrance to Mackinaw Crossing is on the main street.  It is a collection of shops and restaurants that runs over to the major street into town.

I think this is a chapel but I didn’t see any signs.

This cute bear was guarding the door to one shop.

And this more menacing one guarded another shop.

I have a feeling this Santa is here year round.

Here is Wayne looking around at the different shops.

It felt like an old time town square.  It even had a “river” running through it.

Looking across the street are two cannons representing the fact that this area protected the straits.

This is one of the many fudge shops in town.

It is next to the area that was the first downtown area of Mackinaw City.

Most of the stores up here close soon.  In fact, several motels and shops are already closed for the season.
