Repeat performance and Whidbey Island

Friday and Saturday we didn't do a lot. Since most mornings are cold and grey we usually get a late start. One morning, however, I went to the beach again and picked up more sand dollars. Then I had to come back and get warm.

We met two really nice couples that were traveling together. Lee and Ruth were staying in the motel at the resort because their motohome was in the shop for a recall. Ruth's sister, Helen, and her husband, Charlie, were staying in the RV park. We enjoyed a couple of happy hours with the four of them.

We left Sunday morning to head to Kent, WA. We spent the night in the only RV park close to the repair facility and the most expensive KOA we have encountered. It cost $65 a night. Thank goodness we didn't have to stay but one night.

On Monday we dropped the RV off at the repair facility and headed into Seattle. This is the Seattle skyline.

Wayne and I went to Pike Place Market and looked around for about two hours. Then we met Wayne's cousin, Raymond, and his wife, Karen, at Impanima's Brazilian Grill for lunch. It was as good as the first time. If you get a chance to go to a Brazilian Grill for lunch go. At lunch they serve you all you can eat of 9 different meats for $17.95. At dinner you get 17 different things from the grill for $30+.

After lunch we went back to Kent and when the RV was finished we drove to the Naval Air Station on Whidbey Island. The reviews had said that Cliffside RV Park had beautiful sunsets and they were right.

You can see the BC San Juan Islands from the campsite.

The next morning there were rabbits everywhere.

I counted a total of 4 from our window.

We drove over to Mt. Vernon, WA this morning and saw some friends who used to live in Corpus Christi. Karin was our travel agent when we went on our Norwegian Fiords cruise in 1990 and Zeke's family owned Old Mexico restaurant. We had a nice visit with Zeke this morning and saw Karin briefly when she came home for lunch.
On the way back to Cliffside, we stopped at the Destruction Bay viewing area.

This picture is looking out toward the sound from the bridge.
The water here is affected by the tides and you can see the river current here running against the tide.

I also took pictures of some really old barns and structures. It always amazes me that some of the homes and barns built in the early 1900's have outlasted structures build later.

Some of these old barns and silos are still in use.

I thought the roof angles on this old home were very unusual.

This is looking down the road at some of the hills on Whidbey Island.
Wayne had bought Dungeness Crab at the Pike Place Market on Monday and we had them for dinner tonight along with grilled asparagus. Boy am I lucky to have such a great cook for a husband.
I'll try to get back on late Thursday as we are crossing into Canada on Friday and will probably not have Internet access for a while.
