Today we drove over to Lunenburg and Mahone Bay. The others did this trip the last time we were in Halifax but we were busy that day. Coming into town was this impressive home with a widow’s walk. It probably belonged to one of the sea captains.
Here is another beautiful, large old home.
Lunenburg is known for its colorful buildings. Here Wayne and Trouble check it out.
It is also known as the home of the “Bluenose” rum running ship and other tall masted ships that were used during prohibition to run alcohol to the US.
More colorful buildings.
Here are Wayne and Trouble checking out the lawn at the old Masonic Lodge.
More colorful buildings.
This plaque on a large stone building attests to how long this town has been here.
Here is an impressive church with multiple spires.
There are numerous wooden carvings around town.
Close to Lunenburg is the beautiful town of Mahone Bay.
The ocean comes in through a narrow inlet and then opens into this beautiful bay.
We ate lunch at this really nice restaurant.
This was the view of the churches of Mahone Bay from the restaurant.
I’m really glad we made the time to go here.
