Sunday was the big Festivale. Starting around 3pm people started gathering around the cultural center and all up and down the street. this street happens to be the highway through town and since the street was blocked off I have no idea where they were directing cars that didn’t want to be caught up in the craziness. Here are some people milling around in funny hats, masks, and/or Acadian colors of red, white, and blue.
Around 5pm the entertainers started entertaining the people waiting. This lovely red headed woman and her toilet was one of the attractions.
This duo of stilt walkers were two others. They got around quite well.
These two Acadian lovelies were totally red, white, and blue.
i walked around to the back of the staging area and took pictures. This large paper mache woman was, I think, on wheels. You can see the look out screen under her treasure chest so someone could walk around under her.
Here is a better picture of two of the stilt walkers.
And here is the third one.
This is the dragon’s mask.
And here is it’s body.
I’m not sure whether both of these are masks or not. I think that the large one is a mask and the small one gets pulled around on wheels.
I know that these are three different masks.
This little cart will hold a child in a mask.
Here are three more masks. The one on the right is a unicorn.
And here are three more masks.
Here is another cart that will hold a child.
And here are three more masks.
Here is a fancy headdress. If you haven’t guessed already, the entire parade was on foot.
This woman was dress in Acadian colors from head to toe.
This interesting group escorted Neptune down the street.
This couple were dressed as Evangeline and her beau from Longfellow’s poem.
Just about everyone in town joined in on the fun. They walked down the street and then back up the street before it was all over. It was very interesting but very chaotic.
There will be more pictures on Picasa.com.
