Tuesday we drove down in the Nye Beach area. It was drizzly so I didn’t take too many pictures. I did get this interesting Viking ship in front of a business. All the houses are old and quaint.
Tuesday night we went back to Nye Beach to Nana’s Irish Pub.
Part of it looks like I would imagine an Irish pub to look like but the rest of it was tables and chairs.
They have a nice menu but we had come for the $10 corn beef and cabbage plate. As you can see there was a lot of everything and we each brought half of it home for later.
Wednesday we drove up to Yaquina Head Lighthouse. It is the most photographed lighthouse in Oregon.
There are walkways down to the tidal pools below. The tide was very low but we didn’t walk down this trip.
We didn’t see anyone walking around down there.
On the north side of the parking lot you can look down into a deep crevice. Right where the pipe on the left looks like it ends is an opening that goes straight through.
There was an information sign on some of the things to look for. One of them was the Banana slug which is what I am assuming they were racing in Brookings.
They are the largest slug in the area and you can see how big they are by comparing my finger.
We stopped at Izzy’s on the hill at the bottom of the street to the lighthouse for lunch. They have a large buffet for a reasonable price. This is the view from the restaurant.
That black thing on Agate Beach is the Japanese dock that washed over this weekend from the tsunami last year. You can see how large it is by the tiny dots around it that are people.
Thursday was spa day for me so no pictures.
