After dinner Wednesday night, we drove to Old Sacramento.
There are several streets full of old buildings.
Years ago they raised the street level to the second story of the buildings due to previous flooding and put in wooden sidewalks. Even the mail box is in keeping with the era.
Lots of different kinds of shops and restaurants have taken over the street-level floor of the buildings.
Here at Pioneer Park, you can see what used to be the street level.
Some old fashioned signs are hanging outside buildings.
Wayne found home-made peanut brittle but the store was closed.
The area abuts the river which is navigable all the way to San Francisco.
There is a steam boat that takes dinner cruises on the river.
Here are Patty and I in front of the Delta King.
Sacramento was also a railroad hub and these rail cars still take passengers on a scenic tour.
Here are Wayne, Patty, and I looking towards the river with the old town behind us.
This is an old lift bridge that is still in use.
Here are Mike and Wayne walking away from the river.
Here are some random pictures of the streets and the old buildings.
Here are Patty and Mike discussing with Wayne where to head next.
This is a statue of a Pony Express Rider in the park.
Here is a street view of the lift bridge.
And here is the State Capital Building.
We had a fun evening out.
