Sunday we had to be at the dock at 5:30am. This is the boat we will be going out on.
Here we are some of us waiting and trying to wake up.
We got a beautiful view of the bridge on the way out of the harbor.
On the way out most of the kids sat on the engine cover.
Wayne and the women were smart and sat in the cabin.
On the way out the deck hands threw over eight crab pots. We will pick them up on the way back in.
Jody caught the first fish. Unfortunately it was a wild Chinook Salmon and we couldn’t keep it. At least he got to fight it.
After trying unsuccessfully a few hours for salmon we headed closer in to bottom fish. Unfortunately it seemed to get rougher as we got to the reef.
Here is Lois catching a rock fish. The deck hand, Noah, is helping her to bring it in.
Here are Nathan, Noah, Matt, Mike, Wayne and Lois along the side.
Here are Aaron, Joel and Aimee fishing.
Here are Michelle and Aaron with Noah on the far right.
Here are Lois, Matt, and Michelle looking at the Cabezon that Mike caught. It was really ugly but they say the uglier the fish the better eating it is.
Everyone who fished caught fish. We had three buckets full.
Because the seas were so rough, a lot of people lay down on the engine cover going back in. A few of us got rather sea sick.
Then it was time to bring in the crab pots. We were hoping for a good crop as they have soft shells right now and therefore less meat.
Here are Matt and Joel hauling in the first trip
Noah was allowed to haul it over the side.
Nathan and Joel hauled in some traps.
And here are Mike and Aaron hauling in a trap.
We also got three baskets full of crabs. We are allowed to take home 12 per crab licsense. That’s 60 crabs for dinner. Yea.
We made it safely back to the dock where we took a group picture. From left to right deck hand and owner, Jerry, Captain Doug, deck hand, Noah, Lois, Me, Wayne, Nola, Michelle, Mike, Nathan kissing the fish, Matt, Jody, Aaron, Aimee, and Joel.
The crabs were put in large pots to boil. I think it took four pot loads to cook all the crab.
Here are Lois and Marynelle watching the fish being fileted.
There were five bags of cooked crab. Here is Aaron with two of them.
And here we are at the dinner table with our crab for dinner that night.
