We were both so tired that we decided to take a down day. After a late breakfast we went out to walk around the park across from the hotel. At the corner up the street is a nice view of this old church, Santa Maria Maggiore.
We crossed over to the park which is called Giardini Piazza Vittorio with the ruins of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II.
The gardens are complete with a non-functioning fountain in front of the place.
I don’t know if this decorative wall is old or not but it is very attractive.
After lunch we went back to the hotel to rest some more. This evening the hotel hosted a wine tasting in the bar.
We tasted two very nice wines. The white was from an area close to Rome while the red was from the area at the heel of the boot of Italy There was also bruschtta, cheese, etc. for our enjoyment.
One of the owners of the hotel came to tell us about the wine and to visit personally with us.
Later we went back to Rom Attica for dinner where we were serenaded by an Italian singer/guitarist.
A perfect last night in Rome.
