My brother, Murray, his wife Sandy, their daughter, Tracy, and their granddaughter, Grace all came into Austin on Saturday. They had dinner with us at The Conservatory.
Sunday morning we met them at the Bullock Texas
State History Museum for the finish of the MS 150 Bike Ride from Houston. Tracy’s husband, Chris, and their sun, Jacob, were both riding in the race along with one of Chris’s sisters and her daughter.
We got there at 11:30am and there were quite a few spectators there already.
This is a view of where the riders come around the corner off MLK Blvd.
This is a view of the finish line with the capitol building in the background.
Since our riders were quite a ways out we went into the museum up to the VIP section to have some lunch. This is the mosaic that is in the floor of the entrance to the museum.
The VIP area was set up in the cafe and was being catered by a group out of San Antonio. There were three different kinds of quesadillas with all the trimmings, several pasta salads, dips, etc. and ice cream and gelato. There was also a bar set up but it was way too early for that. The food was wonderful.
From left to right are Tracy, one of Chris’s brothers, Wayne, Sandy, and Murray waiting for a phone call from Chris to tell us that they were close.
The flowers out in front of the museum are beautiful.
The crowd just kept growing.
This is the official BP MS150 truck.
This is Chris's neice, Mellissa.
This is Jacob.
Here is Chris's sister, Janie. I missed getting a picture of Chris.
Back inside the museum this is a picture of a real Texas Ranger Badge that is imbedded in the mosaic floor.
They have one of the painted cows in the museum. This one tells the history of Austin.
In the cow’s ears are pictures of the Mexican bats that live under the 1st street bridge.
Here are Jacob and Chris. Jacob is a freshman in HS and is already over 6’ tall. They didn’t get in until after 1:00.
Lastly here are Murray, Sandy, me and Wayne. We haven’t had a picture together in a long time.
It was a fun but long day.
